The climate is tropical, though in the mountains, such as Cerro Chirripo, La Carpihtera, and Eila Costena, the climate is slightly cooler.However, some of the natural hazards in Costa Rica are occasional earthquakes, hurricanes, and frequent flooding of lowlands. Costa Rica with its seven provinces, Alajuela, Cartago, Guanacaste, Heredia, Limon, Puntarenas, and San Jose, and its capital city of San Jose, has a unique history, culture, and economy.
